To provide a social entrepreneur or team with some funding to explore an idea for a social enterprise. This idea must address a social issue in Ireland. It will cover costs of up to €1,000. Additional support may be available from Oakfield Trust in the future from the other funding support mechanisms if the idea turns into a social enterprise.
Who can apply?
Individuals or groups over 16 who meet the eligibility criteria. University / college projects are not included.
What period does it run for?
12 months but we will assess on a case-by-case basis.
Is this Seed Funding?
No – this is funding to explore an idea for a social enterprise.
Eligibility Criteria for Explore Funding
The applicant is aged 16+.
The applicant is a resident of Republic of Ireland.
The idea operates primarily for the benefit of people or communities in Ireland.
The idea and its activities don’t involve political campaigning or religious issues.
The project is not already up and running.
The applicant is developing the project independently or with the help of a small team of individuals and is not applying on behalf of a pre-existing, established organisation. We cannot fund university or college projects.
The applicant should spend the funding and report on the project within 12 months.
We will assess each application on a case-by-case basis. Just be warned that we are looking for strong ideas and ideas that can spend the grant within 12 months. Ideas that have the potential to become social enterprises have the best chance of being successful.
